REVIVE me according to Your WORD

UPDATE:Well, it has been a few months since I have posted a new blog. I guess I have been a little busy this summer – gettin’ hitched and all :). Some more good news, the Ackerman’s are being fruitful and multiplying! The wonderful wife and I are expecting our first child on March 27th, 2012! Watch out world, a new revivalist is coming your way to bring the glory of God!

Talking with students @ ICC Activities Fair

It is great to be back on campus ministering to students. The students coming around the ministry this semester are so hungry for God’s truths and His transformation in their lives. It has been amazing to get to shepherd and watch so many young hearts that are desperate for more of Jesus. What a joy to go after the greatest commandment with a group of college students desiring to love God with all of their heart, soul, mind, and strength! There are 6 new guys and 4 new girls getting plugged in to our small group discipleship program out at ICC. This group has been an awesome avenue in which to grow in love for the Word and God’s character as well seeing His power manifested in our lives as believers.

Kailee and I have also had the privilege to pour in to the lives of the 4 student leaders for Chi Alpha on ICC (Chase Childs, Brandon Robertson, Kaity Vance, and Kelly Gauwitz). We have been meeting monthly and studying through some great books as a leadership team. So challenging! (“A Tale of Three Kings” and “Humility“)

ENCOURAGING WORD: So, as I write tonight, there is a burden on my heart for my own life and ministry, as well as this nation. We need revival…

…But what is revival? What is renewal? What is it that we, as Christians, talk about so frequently and pray for regularly in our meetings? What is transformation? Simply this, A TURNING BACK TO THE WORD OF GOD and His truth.

What does America need? What do our cities need? What does the government need? What does the college campus need? What do our families need? A WHOLEHEARTED TURNING OF GOD’S PEOPLE BACK TO HIS WORD.

Ps. 119:107 “I am afflicted very much; revive me, O LORD, according to Your Word.”

The Word is the foundation and fountainhead from which all of the intents and beauties of God’s heart flow forth and manifest on earth – salvation, His love, the blessings, His miracle power, His character and nature, etc. He has exalted His Word above His very name (Ps. 138:2).

Oh people of God, let us turn back with our hearts to the Lord and ask Him to give us such a hunger and desire for His Word and His precepts that it would surpass all other loves and idols.

Oh that we would get up early and read His word every day. Lord make me as committed to Your Word as I am to eating food and drinking water!

Blessings friends,
